@patterson6 you may have a point. This is an extract from the datasheet for JST PH crimps:

So 24awg is the maximum size for the common crimps, but there is also a smaller size.

@tkln good question … I’m not sure! I was planning on converting my small delta (RepRapPro Fisher) to smart effector. Currently, the nozzle sits quite close to the effector (an advantage as any effector tilt causes less nozzle tilt), and I’d lose a lot of print height if I mounted it hanging below, so I planned to make a mount that held the top off the hot end (cooling fins of a V6 hotend) above the smart effector, with the heater block and nozzle below, using the three holes. I haven’t actually tried it yet for fit, so not sure if it will work (plus cooling, wiring etc) but hadn’t actually thought about whether it would register as triggered. I guess it would, but possibly require more force, and may need some tuning. Someone will have to try it to find out!

@aerouta I use a 3510 fan for the print fan and a 2510 fan for the hotend fan. I was able to make a 40mm fan work for the print fan, but the clearance was too close for comfort. I find 35mm works nicely. I also replaced the 5V stock Revo fan with a 25mm 24v fan. 25mm was the smallest size I could find that operated on 24v.

The models are parametric, so they can be made to fit other fan sizes. I'm happy to share them if anybody is interested.

@eddygara some bed heaters generate strong and varying magnetic fields when they are active, and these magnetic fields affect BLTouch, Smart Effector, and some other types of Z probe. The M558 command includes an optional B1 parameter. If you use this parameter in your M558 command then all heaters will be turned off during the probing move.

Solved my situation now with higher dive + speed so I think I will get going tomorrow.

@nikscha we haven't finalised the dimensions of the combined Smart Effector/Tool Board yet. It will certainly be larger than the current SE in order to accommodate extruders such as the Mini Sherpa and the Orbiter 2.0. I expect to increase the rod spacing from 55mm to 70mm or perhaps a bit more.

The 8-way Molex connector is likely to be replaced by a smaller JST PH one.

I'm made a new version for the Bred Air pump specifically designed to the Rapido (standard or UHF)
