Generally just feels like stepping back in time 10 years, and it lack sooo many futures compared to Slic3r PE.
Just took the dive into S3D to see if i can get that to work.

The only thing I would say is to be careful of is simplify3d as they are a "for profit" entity, and all the ramifications of providing them with your work, and their ability to make money from it, it wouldnt be the first time an inventor has lost their invention due to unscrupulous business practises, im not saying they would, but better to be "en garde"

I'm on the 2.02 RC3 already. I've just ordered IR Probe. Once I receive it, I hope the problem will be eliminated.

I also realized that the offset changes when I switch the power off and on.

Once I power on and set the offset, I can print with that offset a thousand times and the offset will stay same if the power was not switched off.

While setting the offset, G30 S-1 would return the same number even if I retry for 10 times but after a power-off, the number changes.

As @Jacotheron says, use the calculator to work out the maximum speed you will get without loss of torque.

Are you sure that you need to use Nema 23 motors instead of Nema 17? What are you hoping to achieve?

RepRapFirmware is used with a wide variety of heating systems, including ones for high temperature plastics such as PEEK and PEI. So one of the main purposes of auto tuning in RepRapFirmware is to establish the characteristics of the heating system, so that during normal use the firmware can better spot when it is not behaving as expected. Until you auto tune the heater, RRF doesn't know what to expect from it. So it does minimal checks during auto tuning - in particular, it checks that the temperature rises shortly after turning the heater on.

The melting point of aluminium is 660C, so it looks like your heater cartridge was greatly over-powered. Were you by any chance using a 12V heater cartridge with a 24V supply?

One aspect of printing small layer heights that is often neglected is the extruder resolution (e steps per mm).

If you request a layer height/extrusion width combination that requires an amount of filament less than a single microstep of your extruder, you're gonna have underextrusion (or overextrusion if you're using absolute positioning of the extruder).

Thanks again everyone, my DuetWifi and HEVO are back in sync. Have put back my BLTouch to replace the Orion as it was ticking me off, once i get some better prints I mat put it back.

BLTouch is now dialed in and I just need to tweak the prints to stop extraneous links between parts - another self inflected issue I'm sure.

Not replacing the cracked carriage until it fails completely - it's a royal PITA replacing it and setting up again IMHO

Have made note to self that whenever I monkey around with the hotend and/or carriage I run an autotune, fan on fill, before i do anything else ;o)

Yes the mosfet will handle much more than 6A. The limiting component is likely to be the terminal block. A few 3.5mm terminal blocks are rated 6A, many are 10A, some are even higher.

Firmware 2.02RC3 supports the use of M205 to set jerk, in mm/sec.

Calibration cube printed fine but working without a z-probe for now as I don't know what happened to the Bl-touch and don't want to take any chances if it has a short.

Got it, had to put M570 S999 in the config rather than execute it via the console.
