Stepper motors and Duet 3
-
I've ordered a duet 3 and my next step is to look at specifying some motors.
Does the advice around selecting a motor for the duet 2 apply to the duet 3 just with an increased maximum amps? -
what kind of printer do you have?
the higher current of the duet 3 is meant for cnc nema 23 motors.
there are few nema 17 motors above 2A.
so the motors that work well on the duet2 are still a good choice for the duet 3.

@Veti said in Stepper motors and Duet 3:

And Nema34 motors.

@Veti I'm going to build a corexy with a tool changer. Or that's the plan anyway.
I'm planning on using nema 23s for the bed.
The question is more aimed around those and whether the low inductance is still a requirement.
-
Yes, low inductance is still important if you want to achieve high speeds.

Probably getting to the point where inertia matching is more critical. To little inertia on a motor will exacerbate resonance issues.
