Differences between RRF 2 and 3
-
After upgrading, and having an exact 1-1 config migration, the motors seem to sound different now. I also noticed the cold section fan blips much harder when I power on the machine.
Are these differences known to be possible?

If true, I’d like to know what the differences are on the motors - stall detection perhaps?

The motors may sound different if you are driving them fast, because the maximum step rate in RRF 3.0 is lower than in 2.x. That has been partially remedied in RRF 3.01RC1.
The hot end fan blipping longer just means that RRF takes a little longer start up than before.

Interesting. I definitely print fast. What is the "maximum step rate?" Not the value, but what is it actually limiting?

The movement speed multiplied by the steps per mm. You can tell when you are reaching the maximum step rate because the hiccup count reported by M122 rises sharply.
