Radial coordinate system

If I want to build a machine that moves to cover a circular area, but need it to be extremely thin, I would want a turntable and arm of some sort. Is that type of kinematic supported?
-
You mean like a Polar coordinate printer?

@Phaedrux yes, thanks. Though I don't want to make a printer, I want to make something else entirely.

I've also been working with an ESP32 motion controller that supports either conventional SCARA or turntable/arm (or Cartesian). Nowhere near as fancy as the Duet... but does great with two TMC drive chips for its specialized purpose.
Full motion control, accel, deccel, etc. G-Code interpreter. Rho-Theta interpreter (for that circular stuff).
If you have a project you don't want to fully discuss on the forum, email me:

You still don't have to reveal anything detailed... I can point you at the origin of the ESP32 controller that I'm talking about, and discuss my roadmap of planned refinements. Reasonably possible it might already do what you are seeking.

@Danal it's fine. I want to make my own self drawing sand table. Where the ball bearing draws patterns in the sand slowly over time.
-
That's exactly what the ESP32 controller is for. A Sisyphus style sand table.
-
This is the scara version. Bar/turntable is also supported.
I built a prototype, and the movement works quite well... however, I can't seem to find a magnet/ball/sand combination that moves smoothly. I haven't had much time to try different combinations.

Since this is not really Duet related, where is a good place to move this discussion?

How 'bout wider discussion?
