A firmware update guide 1.19 !!!
-
I been trying to upgrade my Duet2wifi from 1.19 to the latest and can't make any sense of it.
Not sure if this is the correct guide .
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Installing_and_Updating_Firmware#Section_Updating_WiFi_firmware_or_DuetWebControl_files.What are the firmware steps or can I do a complete upgrade to the latest.
So I update from 1.91 to 2.?? to 2.?? to 3.00 etc.
I agree with all the comments , I am more lost reading it than before .
Firmware Name: RepRapFirmware for Duet WiFi
Firmware Electronics: Duet WiFi 1.0
Firmware Version: 1.19.2 (2017-09-01)
WiFi Server Version: 1.23
Web Interface Version: 1.22.6 -
That is the (most) correct guide; it cannot cover everything, espescially the Special considerations for upgrading between particular firmware versions section.
But it only covers the firmware, not the all the configuration changes which is
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/blob/dev/WHATS_NEW.md
and
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/blob/v3-dev/WHATS_NEW_RRF3.mdI would think it is less work to go to https://configtool.reprapfirmware.org/ generate a new config for 3.1.1 than to convert the existing config (although depending on how much custom configuration you have done it may not be, and it may be beneficial to see whats changed anyway).
if you get stuck with the update process, you can always revert to loading the RepRapFirmware with the Fallback procedure #3 - in fact you can skip all the intermediate steps by using that procedure (but you will have to extract DuetWebControl 3.1.1 into /www and download Duet2CombinedIAP.bin to /sys in adittion to extracting config.zip from the configtool into /sys on the SD card )

Is the firmware just the files OR does to write at all to the chip itself ?
I'm on 2.05 now , missed the bit about renaming the file if the get a error .Board: Duet WiFi 1.02 or later

technically the firmware is written to the microcontroller from a file in the SD card either by uploading through DuetWebControl, copying to SD card and running M997 or directly over usb using the procedure described in the fallback link above.
But in order to work as expected it needs a some support files on the SD card, including the web interface, and a In Application Programming binary (the now Duet2CombinedIAP.bin file)

It can be a daunting challenge to get back up to speed from so far back, but since 2.0 it has been much easier to keep to to date because you can just upload the zip file from the major releases and everything gets updated. So once you're up to date it's a bit easier to stay with the pack.
From 2.05 to 3.0 and then to 3.1.1 would be the next step if you intend to go to RRF3. Getting a fresh config from the web configurator is recommended. It'll give you something to build on.
Please let us know how you get on.

Thank you , I have it upto 3.11 now .
The only change from factory is adding the routers name and password.
So not really a fresh copy , but a first time configure. ( all factory )
Got the duetwifi for a home build which never worked that good for my liking , now going to fit it to a Ender 5 plus which I haven't even got yet.
Looks like my cr10s pro is going to be my ginnie pig for wiring for the motors and switches , I think creality uses the same wiring for all the stepper motors and uses the same end stop switches.Board: Duet 2 WiFi (2WiFi)
