HELP
-
i did get an ip address i just cut it off the top off the screen
it says network running ip address =192.168..... -
few more thing before i leave you alone for the day and do all my home work on the firmware
web interface????
and can this be powered down usb disconnected for the evening and it will be there tomorrow -
if you put M552 S1 in your config.g file it should work the same tomorrow, if not you'll have to enter M552 S1 to enable networking (or put it into the config.g file).
the web interface will be there as long as the networking is enabled, either by sending M552 S1 or including it in config.g
-
Also, since your IP address is being issued to you by your router under a timed lease, you may not get the same IP address again if you wait a while between connecting.
This is where logging into your router web interface and setting a DHCP reservation for the Duet IP address comes in.
Alternatively you can set a static IP address on the duet using M552 P192.168.whatever however you should choose an IP address that is outside of the range of addresses that the router uses to lease out, otherwise you may someday get a collision where the router assigns the IP address you've decided to use for the Duet to something else as well.
Having a bit of familiarity with your router is important. Usually the manual for the router can get you sorted out.
-
if network and client computer support mdns you could access it as http://duet.local/ independent of the IP.
( if you changed
M550
in config.g to something other than duet, then use that name instead
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M550_Set_Name ) -
still don't think things a completely right.I don't see the duet anywhere in the router web interface
-
Well if the Duet has an IP address then it's got to be in there somewhere. Check for DHCP.
-
Well i managed to get up to step 11 this morning
got an to assign me an address went the DHCP route. Searched the ip it gave me and found the DWC and am in there poking around.
Not to confident on this step -
I think you're well on your way.
-
Down to the last step now checking M554 and M553 Gateway and Netmask ip.Found
the Netmask its good and for the life of me can't find the Gateway ip?
Cuz i don't know what that is -
if you used dhcp you don't need to set gateways and netmasks; if you decided to use a static ip then you should probably match the netmask and gateway of your computer connected to the same router
-
Well thank you......it says i am done. Guess i should shut it down and see if it will reconnect . On the DWC in the upper left corner it says Duet Test with a little box and the word off in a red box.whats this for and what's it indicating

I can't attach any pics and when i hit reply it changes to a full blank page not the way it was yesterday with a small window at the bottom of the page and you could still see the chats above the reply you are typing.Dont know if i touched something i shouldn't have -
Hmm, I'm not sure. Has your browser been zoomed in or something like that?
The reply window box has a little black up down arrow at the top left you can use to grow and shrink it.
-

logged out and in looks good -
DuetTest is the name of the printer as defined in the config.g file that came on the SD card from the factory.
Off probably means it's not connected to VIN?
Now that you're connected I suggest you go through the firmware update process I outlined earlier and then get a config file set from the web config generator tool.
