make the test.
do a mesh beg with g29. save the picture.
take of the sheet
home and put the sheet back on.
compare the picture to the previous one.
if there is a difference then it would be good to level every time. -

HI,
Putting aside the issue of the spring plate (I myself use the BuildTak system)...
You want to use G30 at a single point in the center of your bed to set the Z=0 datum...
- Before you create a height map with G29
- Before you load an existing height map with G29 S1 (which I do before every print)
You probably already know that but I wanted to be sure.
As to the spring plate I have been using just the one existing height map that I create and have been carefully changing the plate between prints.
I certainly hope that is OK because creating the height map for every print would be really annoying with all the clicking my BLTouch does. My prints have been most satisfactory.
Just out of curiosity why do you have 6 adjusting screws? I was advised to only have 3 for my 300mm x 300mm bed support plate.
Thanks.

o,k, thanks! The Tronxy X5S (but I think all the newest X5S models) uses 6 screws to hold the plate wich is 330x330

Tronxy X5S
It's hard to tell from looking at a picture of one but is the bed plate thick enough to be supported by only 3 screws?
As you likely know 3 points define a plane. If the plate is nice and flat 3 screws are all that is needed to level it.
Thanks.
Frederick

the tronxy 5s is know to be not very stable in itself and needs reinforcement.
the bed wont be much better than any other standard china bed. -

Yes I know but 3 are less work to get level.
How thick is the metal plate on your printer?

the metal plate/sheet itself I think is about 1mm thick but between it and the bed there's the magnetic/adhesive layer wich is about 2mm thick, so in total about 3mm of thickness

Sorry I wasn't clear in what I asked.
On my printer there is a metal plate 6mm thick.
The heater is adhered to the bottom of that plate.
The BuildTak piece with all the magnets is adhered to the top of that plate.
Then the flexible BuildTax piece naturally sticks to the piece with the magnets.
So do you have some sort of metal plate under the piece with the magnets?
If so how thick is it?
Thanks.
Frederick

uh yes, yes of course I have...it's an alluminum plate about 3mm tick I suppose...(I can't find my caliper at now so I can't be more precise)

If it is about 3mm that would explain why you need 6 adjustment screws rather than 3.
All is now clear.
Thanks very much.
