Dual Z motor settings with duet 2 wifi
-
Hello, I'm new to this and wanted to make sure I have everything setup correctly.
I have two Z motors and connected the second one underneath the first on the duet board.
Does my config look correct?
Drives
M569 P0 S1 ; physical drive 0 goes forwards
M569 P1 S0 ; physical drive 1 goes forwards
M569 P2 S0 ; physical drive 2 goes backwards
M569 P3 S0 ; physical drive 3 goes forwards
M584 X0 Y1 Z2:2 E3Thanks for the help!

@slyfin if you want to use dual independent motors you'll need to connect the second motor to the unused extruder drive and use
M584 X0 Y1 Z2:4 E3
Using both Z connections runs the motors in parallel from one driver and only allows the z axis to be levelled manually. If this is what you want, then this is the correct code to use
M584 X0 Y1 Z2 E3

I see, thank you for that info

On Duet 2, the two Z motors are conneted in serial, not in parrallel.

once you have that setup please read this
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Bed_levelling_using_multiple_independent_Z_motors
this will use the 2 motors for leveling and will improve the quality of your printer.
but do this as the last step. get your printer up and running before making these changes.

I appreciate the help, I'll definitely try this out

Also, once I connect the second z to E4, do I need to add a new drive to the M569 lines?

yes
