Pressure advance Question
-
I'm looking into incorporating Pressure Advance on my Duet 3. In the write up at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Pressure_advance it states "Ensure the Z seam is aligned to a single point on the middle of a face". This isn't an option in Simplify 3D. It doesn't allow you to put the Z seam in the middle of the print.
Is this a big factor or can it be on a corner?

It's recommended to use prusa slicer since it has that option and the layer change script is written specifically for it. User a corner is suboptimal because it makes it harder to see and evaluate the gap/bulge.

@dhusolo, doesn't S3D have a setting like this? What happen if you specify x,y just behind the center of the rear face?
As for pressure advance, one advice I picked here is to first make sure my low speed prints at at good quality before trying to optimize high speed prints with pressure advance.
BTW, S3D is a dying product. I shelved my licenses and switched to PrusaSlicer.

@zapta S3D isn't exactly dying they're just taking forever to release updates. I still use it because i'm familiar with it and it's already setup and tuned for my machines.
If I try to set it in the middle it'll still put it on the corner. I guess it's a safe guard in case it's not intentional

@dhusolo, I brushed the dust ofmy S3D license and tried to get layer transition at the center of the rear face but couldn't. However, it does seem to work with this modified shape. Maybe it will be good enough for this purpose.
As for the company, there are some interesting info in the link below. For example, it's has a highly controlled and compartmentalized culture. the very opposite from PrusaSlicer's transparency on github, or from Duet3d here. IMO, it was surpassed feature wise by the free slicers.

Just stumbled upon this one, the new PrusaSlicer provides manual control over seams

@zapta Thanks for all that. I'll have to check it out this week
