Unsolved Finetuning input shaper without accelerometer
-
My Delta printer with sherpa mini direct drive, shows some ringing.
I decided to use input shaping, but have no accelerometer.
So I started to calculate the input shaper frequency by the formula printspeed / ringing distanceIt's hard to measure the distance with calipers, but the first attempt looked much better already.
I now see much finer ringing at a much wider distance.Q: how do I 'combine' the new found ringing distance with the already used 'ballpark value' ?
I don't want to use trial'n error, until I've found the best frequence

@o_lampe are you saying that you have two different ringing frequencies? If so, what are they?
Are you certain that the second one really is ringing? If you have too few perimeters, then some types of infill can lead to patterning that looks rather like ringing.

@dc42
I believe the new ringing pattern is a result of an almost right shaper frequency or it wasn't visible before.
The test prints were made in vase mode. I tried to take pictures, but they don't show well.
Above without IS, below 42Hz IS

Is it possible that the ringing distance changes with printspeed?
I have made the lower testprint with 100mm/s, while the test without IS was at 55mm/s -

@dc42
...that would explain, why I saw a longer distance.
What would be the next step then, to improve the surface? Play with 'S' value?I also find the explanation of M593 confusing: there's a P"type" parameter, but later there are P1 references...what does that mean?

I have corrected the M593 documentation. P used to be a numeric parameter but I changed it to be a string.
