Reviving an Omerod 2 & Duet 0.6
-
I'm working on rebuilding an old Omerod 2 printer that's been gathering dust in our maker space for a while. I've rebuilt the majority of the printer but hit some snags commissioning the Duet board.
It powers up from usb and I see 4.7v and 3.3v fine. From DC I get 12V but not 5 or 3.3. I The original supplied 5v regulator isn't supplied but I've disconnected J10 (ATX_5V_EN) and connected J9 (5V_EN) in order to use the internal regulator.
I can't seem to talk to the board over serial but bossa has been able to read information and apparently write 1.26.1 firmware.
The ethernet port is connected and seems to connect (steady orange and blinking green) but it doesn't seem to get an IP.
Any advice would be really appreciated

@legojames From memory, you should be able to connect to the Duet 0.6 via USB cable using a serial terminal. See https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/1.)+Getting+Connected+to+your+Duet/7 or try Pronterface. Try different USB cables if possible, though if Bossa has flashed the firmware, it should be okay. In case you haven't seen it, there's a copy of the Ormerod 2 instructions on the RepRap Ltd website: http://reprapltd.com/reprappro/documentation/ormerod-2/commissioning/index.html
Again from memory, I think the external 5V regulator was used to reduce EMI; the one on the board was very noisy, but if that's not a problem for your environment, you don't need the external 5V regulator.

Thanks I'll take a look at the guide later on when I have the duet in front of me. I've tried a few different cables all giving the same result.
Here is where I've gotten to:
- Pronterface doesn't connect at all
- Bossa can write the Reprepfirmware.bin and verify it, and report board info from the duet.
- Bossac can't talk to the board at all reporting
SAM-BA operation failed
regardless of whether the duet is connected or not - I can connect using
picocom -b 9600 -p n -d 8 /dev/ttyACM1
and useT#V#
to get a hardware version from the ATSAM3X8 ofv1.1 Dec 15 2010 19:25:04
I'm happy not using the external regulator an think I have configured the jumpers correctly to enable the internal regulator however there appears to be no 3.3v or 5.5v when connected via PSU. Is there a way to test the internal regulator?

I actually managed to fix the issues, I re-downloaded the firmware and started at 1.21, that worked so I progressively updated the versions until I got to 1.26.1 and now I have a working duet board
