M591 issue or not? IT IS AN ISSUE !!

M591 D0 P2 S1 C"io4.in"
But there is filament so I am a bit puzzled. I just close and press 'Resume print' and it runs again but error returns again.
This is the original Chiron filament sensor that has been working OK. Latest RRF beta.
Any ideas what might cause this very annoying error?

@tecno guessing it's a simple microswitch inside? Could be that the switch isn't triggering properly. Not sure if there is any adjustment available for that though.
More likely, your wiring is picking up interference which makes the board think the filament isn't present. Usually interference is picked up from the stepper cables. Try and separate them as much as you can and use shielded cable. At the very least you could wrap your switch wires round each other to get a twisted pair.
You might also try enabling the pullup resistor in the Duet as below. Note the ^ in the pin name
M591 D0 P2 S1 C"^io4.in"

Hi there, yes it is with a small microswitch. Cable from switch is shielded original and it has been working OK for many years. Have not had time to play with ^ yet it is on the to do list.

@tecno try sending M591 D0 with and without filament in the sensor, to see if it reports the correct state.

I get the answer as expected = working like a charm.
Been a bit busy so still no chance to play with ^

Did not do any good with ^ so now this function is deactivared in config.g.
Will have to investigate WHY this happends, I have a feeling that filament RETRACT can be the issue as the filament is probably due its movement triggering the switch momentarly. PETG is a bit more flexible so this behaviour might be the issue.
Report of my findings later....

Still get this error even when M591 is DISABLED.

You mean using the S parameter setting for that?

; Filament monitor
; M591 D0 P2 S1 C"^io4.in" ; filament sensorHmm... Commented out.
That would seem to rule out the M591.
Fixed problem here the other day when the OP had two of the same command and the second had the wrong settings.
Don't suppose you've got another M591 somewhere?
