M207 R value units, mm of what?
-
Hi All,
Having just dialed in my retraction settings with firmware retraction I ended up with 1mm additional feed on un-retract. However, when I converted 1 mm filament length to mm3 for cura I'm getting way too much extrusion. This got me thinking, 1mm of what? Is it 1mm of 1.75mm filament length or perhaps extrusion length, in my case 0.7*0.4mm, which is 10% of the first option.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
All the best.

The 1mm is the length of the filament retracted/un-retracted.
What Cura setting are you talking about?

Hi @fcwilt ,
The M207 is how much extra filament is pushed during un-retract. The S setting is the basic retraction distance. It's the cura "retraction extra prime amount".
It would appear that the number that works for cura is the smaller one i.e. equivalent to mm of extruded path in RRF, not mm of filament.
Anyway I have a working solution now so all's well with the world lol.
Cheers
