Smart Effector with SKR 1.4 board
-
I am having sensitivity issues and I wonder if the SKR board could be the problem.
This is on my Dreammaker Overlord Pro Delta printer. Cable length issue with SKR in bottom of printer?
Here you can see that the sensitivity differs a lot from corner to corner, I am trying to tap with same force on all 3 corners and only one is sensitive. What can cause this? The hole for the hotend is very tight, can that have the board to 'twist' ?
Wise has suction so it sits firm on print bed and jaws hard on Volcano hotend.
Any ideas? This is driving me crazy. I am considering to change from SKR board to FLY E3 .

Anybody have any comments on what this issue might be?
-
@tecno assuming that the sensor does respond at each corner but it's just the sensitivity that is different, then my guess is that it's a mechanical issue.

Look at the video you can see it is suspended on hotend so the question is about board fixed on the cooler that is very tight = is it supposed to be that or is to be 'loose'?
Only mechanical issue I can see is that the PCB is twisted / tight / and not responding as it should. -
@tecno I've never tested a Smart \Effector like that, so I don't know if that's normal behaviour or not.

@tecno looks like it's not sensitive enough. A light tap upwards on the nozzle should trigger it reliably.

Yes I know how it should work, this new board behaves as bad as the first one.
#1 Is the hole for hotend in the board to tight??
#2 Is it OK to fix the board to the adapter tight or does the board have to be on distance board/adapter on those 6 M3´s ? (tested both = no difference)So what is causing this fault?????

Been playing around and have some positive progress to report.
With M672 sensitivity set to S105:014:241
I can do G30 with a radius of 70 (factory spec 85)
But I can not run G32, runs with force down to bed! DOES NOT REACT TO TRIG PULSE !!!
G29 functions partly and then effector tilts too much and stops. My effector copy is to dimension as original, only difference is that nozzle on original is about 12mm below adapter and on mine with Volcano about 50mm.
So there must be some errors in my config M665 R95 L206 B70 H285
L is OK and B is set to 70 to be safe.
H is that from nozzle tip to bed when switches are triggered?
R is suspicious
Where do one set the dimension on ball to ball width on effector ? -
@tecno if you're getting effector tilt then it's a mechanical hardware issue. Nothing to do with config.g
-
Just added more info G32 is not reacting to trig signal !!!
-
@tecno it won't if you have a low trigger height and your M665 height is out.
Increase the H value to something like 50.
But if you have effector tilt there's no point going any further until you sort out the mechanical issues -
-
@tecno G30 probes a single spot in the center. You don't usually get effector tilt in the middle.
Effector tilt is purely a mechanical issue -

From center and out to max radius.Anywho, H50 did the trick now I just did run G32 with no problems.
It is now running G29 and it works. So next I will try to expand the print area from R70 to R85
Thank you for your support as usual much appreciated.

So now I have been playing around and at last found the cause I have had with jumps/stepovers.
It all boils down to acceleration down from Hxx and M558 R/F value and M672 S105:xxx:xxxThe weight of what is hanging on Smart Effector must be tweaked with settings, time consuming but necessary.
Here my settings just now, may change after some more tweaking.
M558 P8 R0.6 C"probe+servo0" H20 F250 T3600
G31 P100 X0 Y0 Z0.865
M557 R85 S15 (I have now full factory spec for print area)M672 S105:018:237
Cheers
