      Hi,

I'm currently tuning a belt-driven XY-Core printer with a Z-axis that is driven by three independent motors. Each of these motors has a reduction..

I measured a Z-axis backlash of 0.1656 mm by commanding Z 0.2 up and then down at a very slow feed rate using the G1 command.

I tried to compensate for this backlash using the M425 command.

      M425 Z0.1656 S10.

However, there was no measurable difference, so I started to vary the parameters (Z from 0.1 to 100 and S from 1 to 100).
Most combinations had no effect, except for a few, such as M425 Z12 S1, which affected the movement in the non-backlash direction, causing the bed to move 0.4 mm instead of 0.2 mm.

Is there a reasonable explanation for this? Could you please help me to understand M425/backlash compensation?

      Thank you!
