Naming and ordering macros
-
According to this page:
it is possible to order the macros by prepending them with '#_'. But it does not work: the number and underscore are removed from the name, but they are not ordered in DWC.
Am I missing something, or is it a bug?
Thanks.

It still works on the PanelDue. I'm not sure if the prefix part ever worked that way with the DWC because it shows you the actual file name. You need that file name to call the macro with an M98. On the PanelDue it has limited characters for display, so it makes more sense to chop off the prefix there.

As said, DWC strips out the num+underscore when it displays macros.. But it does not order them. Or it orders them after removing the num!
PS: so this thread should be moved to DWC sub-forum...

Looks like a "DWC thing" to me. The Wiki is fairly clear on what should happen. Do you have a Panle Due as well and if so, are they ordered correctly on that?

No, I only use my Duet through DWC.

@fma Yes, I've just looked at mine and there is something very strange going on.
I'm not using #_ but without that, there is something amiss.Taking the first letter or digit of my macros, they are shown in the order L,L,P,S,U,U,3,5,i,R,t. If I click on "File name" to reverse the order (Z to A), I get U,U,S,P,L,L ,t,R,i,5,3. I'm not sure if lower case should come before upper case but the upper case R" should be between the "P" and the "S" and I always thought that numbers came before letters - certainly not in the middle of a list of letters. My Panel Due shows the same order above (starting with the "L"). My Panel Due firmware may not be the latest but DWC is 1.22.3 which I think is the latest.
I just created a couple of new macros and gave them the titles "aaa" and "ZZZ". The "aaa" gets inserted in the list between the "i" and the "5" and the "ZZZ" gets inserted in the list between the "L" and the "t" when ordered z to a but at the end of the list when ordered a to z. No logic to it that I can see.

I also noticed such strange ordering, but when mixing dirs and files...

I presume you mean the ordering of macros on the Control page of DWC. I'm seeing that too, so it looks like a bug to me. I'll notify chrishamm.

Thank you.

This will be fixed in the next DWC version. Thanks for reporting it!
