2 questions about internet access and notifications

  • Hello all, I am Pablo and this is my first post in the Duet3D Forums.

    1. We currently have the Duet3D connected to a router with no internet. So the router is creating a local network without internet access, that we use to connect to the Duet Web Interface from several PCs, mobile phones, tablets, provided those devices are near the router, and see the wifi.
      The question:
Is there any way to connect the Duet to a router/wifi with Internet access and see the Duet Web Interface from any device in a different internet network (including the video surveillance system, which we have added the function)? The goal of this is to monitor the printer from outside the office, from home, so we can do prints longer than 9 hours.

    2. We have several clients that are wanting to purchase the printer that I developed, which has the DuetWifi and PanelDue in the solution, so we need to implement a notification function to our solution, to offer it to our clients and to start producing the printer in series and selling it.
      The question:
Is there any way in the DuetWifi to program and send notifications to email/SMS/other when there are errors in the machine, such as heater faults, going over certain temperature thresholds, having a power outage or any other error?
This is to improve what I asked in 1), so we don’t need to monitor the Duet Web Interface continuously, but only at certain times, and when we receive notifications.
If there is no way to do this with just the Duet, are you able to provide information to us on how to do this, please?

yes and no. the duet should in no way be exposed directly to the internet. anything connected to the internet has a different kind of security requirement.
what you can do is set up a vpn than you can connect to from the outside and once connected you can access the printer link you are on the same network.
