Web editor needs a bit of white space at left margin

  • Hi,

It would be nice if you could add some white space at the left margin of the editor.

As it is the cursor tends to be hard to see when at the left margin.

    Thanks.

In DWC 3.1 there is already some padding on the left to make selections easier.

    Thanks for the reply.

So that is our only option? To upgrade to the new v3 firmware?

I was under the impression the converting from v2 to v3 required a good deal of work.

    Yes? No?

  • @fcwilt just try it? The 3.1.0 versioning was just to satisfy other requests for matching version numbers, not explicitly breaking compatibility with RRF2 (not yet at least, to my understanding).

At least giving DWC a go is simpler than RRF, although for common setups, the conversion isn't all that bad, most config changes are already covered by multiple topics on here. Its mainly pin names and a few changes to g-codes (and new features)

    Thanks for the reply.

I downloaded the file "DuetWebControl v3.1.1 for SD.zip" and uploaded it to the Duet.

The upload seemed to go OK and the reported version for DWC is now 3.1.1.

However the first thing I noticed was M291 doesn't seem to work. The only thing displayed is "OK" regardless of any P or R parameters.

Is there something else I need to update to get DWC 3.1.1 to work?

    Thanks.

    Frederick

  • @fcwilt that rings a bell; but iirc that breaking should have been limited to Duet3, however seems i was wrong. My bad!

DWC 3.1.1 uses different ways to get the machine state (including the M291 message box type) depending on whether it is talking to RRF 3.1 or later, or to an older version of RRF. So I guess that fix was applied to one of the code paths but not the other.

You could also consider reverting to DWC 1.22.6. If you installed DWC 1.22.6 at some time in the past, you can try it out by putting /reprap.htm after the IP address in your browser address bar.

DWC 2.0.7 seems to be working well aside from the white space issue.

I'll stick with it until I understand v3 firmware well enough to undertake the conversion from v2.

    Thanks.
