Hi, I recently got a duet2 ethernet and duex 5 (and paneldue 5i) to act as a relatively standard replacement control system for my university project. It isn't anything too extravagant, however due to my and my team's inexperience, we believe that we have bricked our boards. I attempted to update the firmware when I first received them on February 22nd, however I gave up for a while after I was able to get it to connect via pronterface and see it was running firmware v2.03 (never was able to get it to connect over dwc). What made the the printer special is that is has 2 additional axes but is built on the frame of a makerbot replicator 2 that had been converted to a bowden extruder, this didn't cause any issues and we were able to control each axis with no issues. But we never got to the stage where we could print like a normal printer. I was able to configure the config relatively easily with rrf config tool and manual editing of the files. Through an unfortunate series of events, I believe that we have soft-locked the boards in a state where the firmware is either corrupted or erased, but we cannot connect to them to flash new versions to save them. When powered on now, the 3.3 and 5v, and diag leds come on, but the paneldue will not connect and no combination of microusb cord and port is recognized on any computer we try. We attempted to erase the firmware as specified in instructions using a jumper across the erase pins, however this did not change anything. We have the budget to order new boards, but is there a way to save these?

Go through this document and see how far you can get. Unless there is some significant damage to the board components it's unlikely you've bricked it. Most likely the firmware can be cleared with the erase jumper and reflashed with Bossa over USB.
