Solved [Delta] second (independent) effector any good?
-
Hi gents,
I'm using my Hitchhiker drive on a CoreXYU printer with great success.
Now it dawned me, that the concept could also be used to create a second effector on my Delta printer.
I thought of a bigger effector with shorter arms, surrounding the main effector. It could carry bigger part coolers.
This version would run in sync with the main effector.
Another option would be a guided flying extruder above the main effector.
( Although I'm happy with the 'sherpa mini direct drive', I thought it was worth mentioning)
This version could run independent. It would still follow the main effector but at it's own ratio. Like @deckingman 's mixing extruders.Q: would it be possible to define two delta kinematics with their own axes and parameters on one controller?

The existing delta kinematics class is written to support a single effector with 3 to 6 towers. If you want the second effector to follow the primary one exactly, you could do that just by defining three additional towers. If you want it to have its own axes, that would require the code to be rewritten to support multiple delta kinematics.

@dc42
thanks for replying, I read the thing about 6 towers.
It wouldn't matter then, if the three additionals towers would be the same as the original ones.
E.g. second carriers running on v-rollers instead of mgn12 carrier? -

OK, let's say the second effector follows the main effector but it has different arm length and effector size:
The crucial thing is, that the angles of main and second are same? -

No, that doesn't matter. The arm length and delta radius for the second effector can be different.
