Clarification of terms: Home, Origin, and probing near supports
-
My understanding is that Home is where the extruder is driven to in order to contact the endstop switches, typically at front left on a cubeXY printer.
I believe that "Origin" is placed wherever the user wants; in my case I'll probably place it at the center of the printable area.
I'm using three Z steppers. In Bed.g, I'm supposed to probe near each leadscrew. I assume that the coordinates are relative to the Home position, correct? Just want to confirm that it's not relative to the Origin.
I've been referring to this guide for help: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Bed_levelling_using_multiple_independent_Z_motors#main
Thanks, and you guys have been awesomely helpful with my other noob questions as well!

The origin is the 0,0 point in XY space. That can be anywhere you like, but it's typically in the front left position or the center of the bed. This is to match how CAD software and slicers use 3D space.
The home position is where the endstops are and they are relative to the origin point.

No, the opposite. The lead screw positions must be defined relative to the origin.
Maybe these example photos put things into perspective?
