If running a Duet3 in standalone mode, do any of the new firmware releases allow for an external SD card to be connected?

Duet 3 Mainboard 6HC - No, and this is a physical limitation, not firmware limitation; it doesn't have pins to connect an external SD card socket.
Duet 3 Mini 5+ - Yes, external SD card socket is supported, connected to PanelDue or 12863 expansion pins. Supported in all RRF 3 versions that support the Mini 5+, afaik. (External SD card socket support has been in RRF since v1.16.)

We are considering adding that option to RRF. The SD card socket would be connected to the temperature daughter board connector.

@dc42 that would be great. If network connections issues occur, having the extra SD card to load programs is very helpful.

@dc42 Do you know when the decision would be on whether or not this is implemented? I'm planning to use the board as an OEM in a new piece of equipment we are designing. I will need to plan accordingly based on this functionality being available in the next 2-3 months. Any time frame you could provide would be very helpful, I know that input shaping is a big focus as of now.

Have any additional plans been made to add the ability to use a secondary SD card on the Duet3?
