Can't connect to board using any of the methods in Wiki

I've tried all the methods to connect to the board and no joy. It's a new set up and first time using the board. I have a paneldue connected and that also does not connect to the duet. I'm using windows and usb. I could connect the panel to update to 7" firmware, but the duetwifi won't, i even tried to erase but got no com ports showing.I assume it hardware fault but just want confirmation before i send it back.
