    Z direction of movement

      Am I confused or…

      In the baby stepping interface "-0.05mm" means move the nozzle closer to the bed / bed closer to the nozzle by 0.05mm.

      But in the print control interface Z +100mm means move the nozzle closer the bed / bed closer to the nozzle by 100mm.

      In other words isn't their a conflict here?

      (Having just been using the baby stepping interface to move the nozzle closer to the bed by using a negative number I confidently selected Z+100 (a positive number) to move the bed away at the end of the print and had a nasty crash.)

        No in the control interface z-100 moves the nozzle closer to the bed. So no conflict there, is it possible your z motor is turning the wrong way?

        I do find the direction of travel confusing between delta or cartesian vs corexy as one moves the head the other moves the bed but this is only confusing when software like pronterface uses a vertical representationfor z.

            OK (early morning testing!) - yes sometimes one does something and then (compounded by the stress of the crash) forgets what one did / thinks one did the opposite.

            Also get confused when switching from a CNC router (cutting head moves) to CNC mill (bed moves for x and y). Focus on trying to move the cutter and the intended movement occurs. Focus on trying to move the bed - and it all goes horribly wrong! I think that's what happened here…. I focussed on trying to move the bed down on my printer and so clicked a negative value. Ouch.
