I looked at the post for the Z motor brake. Does the relay always remain powered (even if the printer is off) in order to short the coils?

I might be thinking of a different printer, but their higher-end machines use a laser profilometer for in-process inspection. Detecting a 'dislocation' would likely be possible this way.

Yeah choosing the Vee angles was mostly a guess as I was designing it, so I'll look into standardizing it. I actually like the idea of a spring-loaded pin to interface the plates, that way the hotend wouldn't just fall into the print if dislodged. But I'd need to make sure the Duet can detect a 'bump' through a momentary opening of the switch before the mount is pulled back into place.
My work involves an industrial motion platform that I'm converting into a 3D printer. The machine's motors have enough torque to destroy anything attached to the end-effector: hotend, mount, z-axis itself, etc.
I designed (but haven't yet tested) a kinemtatic mount for the hotend that also acts as a normally-closed switch. The mount uses magnets to hold the two pieces together, and some round-head bolts and aluminum stand-offs create the kinematic mount.
My plan is to wire the black and white cables to an endstop header. If the print collides with something and the head is knocked out of place, the "switch" will open and the print or motion will be paused.

Running into a connection problem when connected to an SBC
(I'm starting a new thread to get more exposure since that thread is getting quite long, and now that my issue seems to be not unique to the Jetson Nano)
I can connect to the Duet via DWC (thermistors and endstops read correctly), but I can't send gcode commands to the Duet (console just hangs forever.)
I've tried this with 3 different SBC configurations with the same result:
1). Jetson Nano (initially)
2). RPi running Raspbian (to rule out any problem with the Jetson)
3). RPi with DuetPi (to rule out any problem with Rasbian)
DSF installed without issues in all cases.
What I have tried:
1). Ensuring correct TransferReadyPin & adjusting SPI frequency in /opt/dsf/conf/config.json (SPI frequency is currently set to 2MHz)
2). trying the above SBC configurations
3). Confirming ribbon cable is connected correctly
4). Swapping to a different ribbon cable
Searching for a cause:
