    • How to ground shielded cables?

I have a question regarding stepper motor wiring:
People suggest to use shielded cable and that it should go to ground on one side.
But where and how shall i ground the cable shields on the duet wifi?

Using shielded cable without ground doesn't bring any advantage or?
I assume the magnetic field caused by the stepper motor current will induce voltage into the cable shield. But there is no way current can flow.

      @dc42:

See http://reprappro.com/documentation/ormerod-2/wiring/#Fitting_the_cover_and_wire_routing for how RepRapPro did it.

This is nice as you see what it could look like.

The interesting image from that page:
      https://reprappro.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ORM2-wiring-34.jpg

      And its description:
"All the wiring looms use shielded cable, to reduce the effects of Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI). It is important that the shielding makes contact with ground, by earthing them through the metal case. Each wire has a slot in the case; bend each cable so it sits in the slot. Make sure that there is not sideways pressure on the housings, where they are plugged onto the pins of the Duet; they can loose their contact with the pin, and make a faulty connection."

    • RE: Slicers to support relative coordinates?

Sorry for not making myself clear.
According to the wiki page printing in relative coordinates is more accurate, as errors don't accumulate. So using M82 is not recommended I suppose?

Is this effect even recognizable compared to absolute positioning EDIT: extrusion?

    • Slicers to support relative coordinates?

Found a confusing wiki page: https://duet3d.com/wiki/Slicing_recommendations

MatterControl and Cura don't support relative coordinates: https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?id=953#p9446
So the only free slicer to support it is Slic3r??

This question is important to me, because I need accurate prints.

    • RE: New experimental firmware 1.19beta9

@tape: Do you mean "update from 1.19 beta"? Please check if all the firmware versions are correct or just try flashing Firmware/Server again.

      My question:
      In standalone access point mode (M589 S"DuetWifi" P"Silverspoon" I192.168.1.1 –> M552 S2) I can connect to the DuetWifi.
DHCP works as I get an IP adress but "ping 192.168.1.1" leads to "Destination Host Unreachable".
So I don't have access to the web interface. However the Web Control was accessible before when connecting to a known network (mode M552 S1).

Here is another thread regarding a similar issue, unfortunately unsolved:

But pinging should usually work nevertheless. This is quite strange.

Apparently this is not a problem many people observe…
As the wifi server is not crashing what could cause the upload to stop?

@thomasf: What's your signal strength? Do you have the problem since the beginning?

    • G2 & G3 Controlled Arc Move support

      @T3P3Tony:

I believe CNC GCodes more often contain G2/G3 commands so to widen the applicability of RepRapFirmware this would be good to add. Also there is a bit of chicken and egg. If no firmware supports it then why bother implementing it in a slicer.

Like T3P3Tony pointed out, it would be a first step towards making .stl a thing of the past.
      https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?id=16&p=2

      The gcode description:
      http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#G2_.26_G3:_Controlled_Arc_Move

This will help on our way towards .amf support and to get more accurate hole dimensions:
