Duet Wifi Slow Upload + Not connecting via Interface

Hey Guys,
After testing some Duet Wifis I wanted to use them at all of my printers. Today I was doing some tuning on my AM8, when I got my first disconnect. Its not that I cant see the Interface, it was that I got a "reconnect" state in the interface. Also I got very slow upload speeds. I tried different SD Cards, restarted everything a thousand times and after that I´m now getting no connection in the interface. He just stays disconnected. Sometimes he tries to reconnect, but without happy end. So I have to take out SD Card for making changes... Thats very awful. In Octoprint I can use the printer, but the homing scripts from the duet arent working...

Hi,
The antenna on a Duet WiFi is very small.
To get consistent fast performance I had to install an additional WiFi Access Point closer to my printers than the one already installed on the same basement level.
That solved all of my connections problems.

Thanks for your answer. The router is in the next room, thats really bad... Then it is much easier for me to use octoprint.
But I will try to move the printer/router to be sure that is the problem.Thanks!

Well my existing WiFi Access Point was some 30 feet away with two walls and a bunch of HVAC equipment in the way of my printers. The new one I installed was some 8 feet away. I already had a nearby hardwired network connection so installing the new Access Point was easy.
The performance of the WiFi portion of "stock" routers installed by various internet providers can vary a good deal. I generally disable the WiFi portion of the router and install my own WiFI Access Points.

@WillGIam, the signal strength in your M122 report looks good (-54dBm) so I don't think it's a signal strength problem. It may be caused by interference. Try setting your router to a different WiFi channel.

the problem is, that I use my printers for workshops and in other locations. It would be very bad if I would have this problem somewhere else, so I need a reliable solution.

Hi,
If you use an Android phone there are apps you can get which will allow you to analyze the WiFi environment you are working in.
They can be very helpful in determining the best setup for your printer.
Setting up WiFi is actually pretty straightforward but it seems many folks don't know the best way to do the setup. There are only three WiFi 2G channels (in the US) that don't overlap: 1, 6 & 11. And yet you will find folks using other channels trying to find "clear air". The problem with that approach is that adjacent channel interference is a worse problem than co-channel interference. So it's best to put everything on 1, 6 or 11 using the least congested channel for your device.

As dc42 said, its not the wifi that is causing the problem. I tried different channels on my router and turned the antennas, I was waiting for the right Mars, Moon and Earth position at midnight.... Nothing changed.
I now got Octoprint running. I bought some Antennas for Duet Wifi and will test them.
The question is: When levelling with G29 via Octoprint, is he reading the heightmap when printing via Ocotprint?

Please clarify: did you get these problems soon after powering up or restarting the Duet, or after some time?
If it only happens after some time, please try firmware 2.04RC4. A small number of users have reported network connectivity issues after some time caused by running out of output buffers, and I now have two reports that changes I made in 2.04RC4 have resolved this problem.
