High voltage 6HC?
-
I have seen some post here and there by @dc42 about a higher input voltage Duet 3 6HC mainboard. I was wondering a couple things:
- Is this in the works or just an idea for now?
- Is there an indicative date for this planned?
- What u upper limit in terms of input voltage is envisioned at this point?
-
- We've started thinking about it and looked at various means to achieve it; but we've not started the design work yet. It may not be practical without either increasing board size or removing one of the stepper drivers.
- No. We have other development priorities at present, so it won't happen any time soon. Maybe in 2022.
- Probably 50V maximum nominal input, to allow a 48V PSU to be used while allowing a reasonable tolerance, and to allow for the voltage to rise somewhat when the motors are turned off and feed power back to the supply while remaining with the stepper driver and mosfet absolute maximum ratings of 60V.

@dc42 Damn, that was not the "the boards are ready to ship tomorrow" answer I hoped for For real though thanks for the insights, I appreciate Duet3D being open about this.
