Connect to DWC from Anywhere in the World
-
Hey, I don't know much about networking or whatever. But I was wondering if there is a way to connect to my DWC to control my printer if I go off of my wifi network such as from my phone using 3G or something? Thanks.

@gaaunapoi It's a setup of your router. I think, it should be possible to do something with port forwarding.
But you will need a Dyn DNS service, except you have a static IP. -
@gaaunapoi 1st responder Cosmowave is right.. You could arrange for a prot forward in your router. But this is highly unsafe as the DWC is not created with security or this purpose as it seems. And your printer is connected to HighCurrent AC.. and holds heating components. Any people who get access to your DWC page may be very smart and figure out how to sabotage your device. (And maybe even cause damage to your printer or create a firehazard.) You should not give the internet access to your printer!
Please consider setting up an VPN to get access to the wifi at home and only access the printer using the VPN first. -
Okay, thank you. Good info, I definitely want good security if I did this. Sounds like VPN would be the way to go I will look into how to set that up in the future perhaps.
