More fail-safe touch interaction...

this is something I observed with some of my clients (art-university-here with a 3d-printer with a duet2) students interacting with the printer via the paneldue:

I bought the huge 7"-version, but still for people with "thick" fingers the buttons could have a little more "dead"-zone around them, that means some of the buttons are bigger then they have to be on the 7"-Version and so the "touch"-zone is too big for thick fingers so that when interacting fast it could happen that you touch stuff you do not want a.k.a. "ghost"-behaviour.
I do not know, but assume, the visual representation of a button and the "active" touch-zone of that same button could be adjusted independently. If so it would be great to slightly reduce only the touch-zone e.g. If they are tied together then the whole buttons would have to get a few pixels "smaller" (of course only in that direction where there is another touch element next to it). I have the feeling at least on the 7"-version there would be space for it. I can assume that for the smaller screens that would get tricky - hm
It would be great if the overall-touch-sensitivity could be reduced e.g. if idle (using the same idle as the "dim if idle" that currently can be used) to avoid having dust or people standing close by with their back to the printer doing interaction with the display unintentionally - this would be, depending on the hardware and command-interface of the display, either be impossible now or maybe easier in the future? (Or maybe the display comes already with a command for it?) Of course this has the natural limitation that the sensitivity cannot be lowered very much because the screen of course would become unusuable...

-> A workaround for 2) is to have a thick frame around or glas-door on top of it but for 1) there is no physical fix I guess

The PanelDues have resistive touch screens, so you can operate them with the tip of your fingernail. This is much more precise than using the pad of your finger.

It's already been suggested that we lock out many of the PanelDue buttons when a print is in progress and not paused. This will probably come in a future firmware revision.

I know that we had to increase the touch sensitivity when we introduced the original 7" displays, because they were less sensitive than the 4.3" and 5" versions. But it may be that the 7i is more sensitive than those, in which case we could reduce the sensitivity again.

Ah - cool! That means I shoot a defect parcel-service-digital-signature-plasticstick/pen on ebay & we are fine! THANKS
