Trouble updating WiFi, classic noise on 8266 problem
-
Hi,
I have updated my Duet2 WiFi to the latest offering, but my WiFi module would not upgrade from DuetWiFi server V1.21 to V1.23
PanelDue went down through all the connect baud rates and failed at 9600 with some comms failure.
So after going through all the roll backs, recovery methods etc I thought it might be h/w psu gnd related.
When I unplugged everything not needed, and the PT100 PCB, managed to program WiFi module OK at a highish baud rate.
Just a heads up in case you have the same issue and don't want to waste a few hours fannying about.
The ESP07-12 / 8266 is a bugger for this.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Were you using VIN power, or USB power?

The Duet PCB was in the Kossel XL+ and powered normally using 24V on Vin.
If it happens again I will look at the various voltage rails for noise and ripple, and the ground PCB track to WIFI module. Fatten it up and decouple the WiFi module supply Pin maybe. There is a DNF on the schematic for a cap. Need to check what’s actually on the PCB.I do have an Ethernet module to swap out if needs be. But the wifi module, in Normal operation, has never given me problems.

Thanks. We have had a number of instances where the WiFi module refuses to update due to failure to connect, and replacing the WiFi module has fixed it.
