Head Movement / Jog Control layout

  • The manual head movement/jog control would be more intuitive with a spatial layout, more similar to Pronterface, Repetier Host, or Simplify3D.

    Here's an example:

Personally, I hate that type of layout. But each to his own! If enough users want this, then Chris might implement it as a configurable option.

  • Oh please make it configurable and not obligatory. What happens if you have end stops at the other ends of the axes and the directions reversed? Then you'd have to stand on your head to make sense of the movement control. Personally, I much prefer the existing layout.

  • Very good points. I hate to see software tarted up with 100 options, so unless there is huge demand, I'm fine with it as it is.

That layout also takes up a lot more space, i.e. 9 rows of layout instead of just 3. This isn't so much of a problem on a PC, but would be an issue on a smartphone or small tablet. Some machines have additional axes U, V W which would also need to be included. The Extrude functionality also needs buttons to set the extrusion rate.

Perhaps someone can come up with another layout that is better than both the existing one and the one used by Pronterface, Repetier etc. and that most users can agree is better than both of those?
