Layer times / count oddities
-
Edit - the short layer times are a slicer bug or oddity, not a Duet bug.
The layer count appears to be a Duet bug - see the next post.Times:
It just started showing the same thing on the print I'm doing now - after posting the problem, of course - so I compared the gcode line counts at the layer steps.Whilst layer height is set to 0.2mm, at certain points the slicer add a 0.1mm layer and only fills in a small amount of support material, which means a very short layer time.
I have also seen this zero time effect mentioned in other threads.

OK, there is definitely a bug in the Duet side relating to layers.
This is what DWC is presently showing me:
The same info is given on the Paneldue for estimations.
Note the layer count: 230 of 199; however the gcode file shows 268 layers, with this at the last layer change:
;; AFTER_LAYER_CHANGE:268,39.8The job information shows total height 39.8 and 0.2mm layers so that part is correct.
I cannot find anything in the gcode file that gives a layer count, other than the layer change numbers - so presumably the layer count is read or calculated in the Duet system?

If the slicer doesn't provide a layer count DWC calculates the layers from the total height and layer changes, which can get confused by the shorter layer heights.
