Controlling and limiting the start of a DC motor
-
Hi,
My duet 2 wifi's fan pin is connected to a DC motor.
A M950 command is used to control it.
My questions:
1- How can I add a limitation that he will only start when the heater temperature reaches 180 degrees Celsius?
2- How can I add this motor to the UI dashboard so it can be controlled like a regular fan?Thanks,
Adi -
@adistr we don't advise running a DC motor from a fan pin unless you know that the stall current of the motor is very low, 1.5A or less. It's safer to run a motor from a spare heater output if you have one, but then you need to use an external flyback diode because the Duet 2 doesn't have built in flyback diodes on the heater outputs.

@dc42 Hi, I'm using an external power supply

@dc42
Could you explain to me please:
(1) how I can control the DC motor from the dashboard UI and
(2) how I can limit its start in the configuration file (M950)?Adi
