Hey printer people, I have a quandary that I would love to hear your thoughts on. Can the pressure advance setting could be made to work with an extruder that uses air pressure, instead of a stepper motor?

In my system, the extruder syringe is driven by a valve that turns on pressure whenever a g1 command is sent with an extrusion amount greater than 0. So far it’s working such that a higher extrusion feed rate means that the pressure is on for less time so less material is deposited, whereas with a really slow feed rate, the pressure is on for longer so more material is deposited. This seems like the inverse of how the pressure advance setting works, where a higher extrusion feed rate correlates to more material deposited. Can this be rectified so that pressure advance goes slower when it wants to deposit more material, and vice versa?

Please tell me what you think, I’d love to hear your guys’ thoughts on the matter.

      Cheers,
      Noa
