M587 WiFi setting will not save

I`m helping a friend with setting up his Profimaker3D Printer with a new Duet2 WiFi. When I configure the WiFi settings with M587 S"" P"" for my WiFi network it works fine. Now I have finished setting up the printer, and would set up the WiFi setting ready for his WiFi setting. But now the setting won't save, I can not change the WiFi settings.
Can you only configure the WiFi settings if you can connect to the WiFi?
Or is there a step for changing the WiFi settings I have over looked?The machine is huge, I would like to be sure so I don't neet to take it back and forth

can you send M122 and share the result?
What do you get if you send M587 by itself?
are there any error messages?
How are you sending the M587 command?
