      Hello,

I have a problem. I have reinstalled my CNC milling machine and improved the mechanics and the entire structure. In the process, I also installed close loop steppers instead of the normal ones. So far, everything is fine. The wiring is all correct and, to the best of my knowledge and belief, connected exactly according to the data sheet/color code. This is already the second milling machine and I now know what I had to look out for.

The only problem is that the steppers don't move. They have power and turn back even if you turn the spindle with force, so they react to the close loop. But when I want to move in my Estlecam, nothing moves. The motors are completely silent and don't work at all.

I haven't downloaded the program for the stepper yet, i.e. the software for the driver. Do you need it to make an initial run? I can't find anything on the internet about whether you HAVE to use the software or whether it is optional.

      I installed the following parts:
      Y axis:
1 x 34HS46-6004D-E1000: 9.0Nm stepper motor with closed control loop
      1 x CL86T-V41: Closed Loop stepper motor driver V4.1 0~8.0A 18~80VAC/24~110VDC for Nema 34 stepper motors

      Z axis:
1 x 23HS22-4004D-E1000: 1.2Nm stepper motor with closed control loop
      1 x CL57T-V41: Nema 23/Nema 24 stepper motor driver with closed control loop V4.1
      X axis:
1 x 23HS30-5004D-E1000: 2.0Nm stepper motor with closed control loop
      1 x CL57T: Nema 23/Nema 24 stepper motor driver with closed control loop V4.1

      Thank you for your help.

@kai25 Are you using a Duet board to control the closed loop motor drivers? If so, which one, and how is it wired? Was it working before with normal stepper motors and drivers? What firmware version are you running (send M122 and post the response) and please post your config.g.

Most problems with external stepper motor drivers are usually due to enabling them, or setting them up to accept step/direction input.
