Solved Hotend faulting
-
my hotend does one of three faults heats to slow and faults, heats to selection temperature,overheats then faults or doesn't turn on at all.
-
Have you tuned it? https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Tuning_the_heater_temperature_control
-
yes have tuned it. i tried the E1 settings. this board was purchased on 9/6/19 it worked fine until 8-10 days ago. turned it off for the night. turned on the next day and it had a grand mal seizure.
-
please note everything on the board works except the extruders.
-
Check that the screws in the VIN terminal block and the hot end heater terminal block are still tight. Also look for discolouration of the those terminal blocks and the wires going into them, that could indicate overheating due to a bad connection.
-
Have checked the vin terminals, all is tight and nothing is discolored.
-
here are pics of my card.
-
Check the black thermistor wires, it looks like the wire is not push enough
-
Are there any other connectors in the cable between the Duet and the hot end heater?
I notice that you are using the E1 heater output, not E0. Did you have a problem with the E0 heater output?
-
Yes, went to E1 after reading a previous post that you suggested. Yes there is another connector at the hotend carriage. I have checked the wiring with my meter and all connections are solid.
-
@tech-raton
checked the connector it indeed needed a little push, but E0 and E1 are still faulting.
Thanks -
Here are pics of the upper connections:
-
does it also happen with a direct connection of the heater to the duet?
-
@Veti
unfortunately yes. -
The hot end is no longer faulting, However E0 and E1 no longer energize, otherwise Bed energizes and all axis home .

@dc42
am totally perplexed. Have been using duetwif boards without any problems for past 3 years. I have another duetwifi v1.4 works fine. only having E0 E1 problems with my newest board. Would appreciate any help you can provide.Thank you

This is the first time I have used this forum. I was refered by Filistruder to troubleshoot my board, as the only way to get authorizing for a repair or replacement for this board. I generally like this product however am very dissatified with what is considered customer by Filastruder. This is one of the more expensive boards on the market and would really like to resolve my problem.PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE

just to recap.
your hotend is no longer faulting? what did you actually change?
now both stepper e0 and e1 are not working? have you tried swapping e0 with for example x to see if the stepper driver has failed?
use https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M584_Set_drive_mapping for that. -
@Veti
Sorry I meant Eo and E1 heaters. Everything on the board works fine now. The only thing not happening are the heaters, they will not energize, no voltage or amperage output. -

you have verified that with a multimeter?
