Fitting a DC UPS

Following on from a couple of other threads that I started about using a UPS, I finally got this done and it works like a charm. Many thanks to @samlogan87 for pointing me in the direction of DC UPSs.

It is a long post so I'll forgive you for not seeing the cost
. The UPS unit cost me £47.80 and the batteries I chose cost me £69.90. I did spend a lot more than that because I undated a lot of other things at the same time. I could have used smaller capacity batteries for my printer, in that configuration. On the other hand, if one had a DC powered bed heater, one would likely need to spend more on bigger batteries. It just depends on what the power consumption is and what the desired run time is. -

The runtime vs load will depend entirely on what batteries you decide to pair it with. I chose a pair of 12V 20AH but I don't think there is any reason why you couldn't use a pair of say 200AH. The printer would likely run for a week on batteries if you did that (and take another week to recharge them)
