There's no confirmation after an expansion board flash
-
Low priority issue:
M997 B1 Board 1 about to start firmware update
Then nothing.
The DCS log also just ends...
[trace] Received file chunk request for Duet3Firmware_EXP3HC.bin, offset 150784, maxLength 448 [trace] Received file chunk request for Duet3Firmware_EXP3HC.bin, offset 151232, maxLength 448 [trace] Received file chunk request for Duet3Firmware_EXP3HC.bin, offset 151680, maxLength 12
I thought it had crashed. Turns out, it ran fine, just didn't print any kind of confirmation.
M122 B1 Diagnostics for board 1: Board EXP3HC firmware 3.0beta1 2019-10-10b1
Can we get a confirmation please?

@gtj0 Based on the fact that I've been updating expansion board firmware since the end of August, I can say that if it goes pear shaped, the LED sync light stops flashing. So basically, if it works, the LEDs all flash in sync, if something goes amiss, they don't. Admittedly, there isn't any pop-up message but you'll know if the update went pear shaped.
BTW, things are very much better now than they were back then but it's generally a good idea to always run config.g on the main board after updating expansion board firmware.

With the latest DSF+RRF versions the web interface changes to "Updating". Isn't that sufficient?

Updating
Not if you're doing it from the console. Like I said, it's low priority.
