@frenqukou5 I'm not an expert on stepper motors by any means but I'd say use the smallest form factor that will give you the required torque. Generally this means Nema 17s are usually adequate. I do use both on my machine because one of the axes has a moving mass of around 3Kgs and the only way I can get the required torque to accelerate that mass at the rate that I want, is to use Nema 23s. But they are noisier than the Nema 17s and have higher rotor inertia which is self defeating if you want higher acceleration.

Hi,
Steppers of a given class (17, 23, etc) come in a wide variety of performance specs.
Unless you are building an unusual printer you can likely find 17's that do what you need.
I'm on my sixth printer and they have all used 17's.
