Is there any way to disable them in firmware?
Currently I stuck small pieces of tape to them, but maybe there's more elegant way

Downward facing? not in firmware, they are wired in parallel to the heater fan.

You can tape, paint, remove, cut traces, etc.

Yes downward ones, they interfere with my camera. Will keep taped then.

They can't be disabled in firmware because they are connected in parallel with the heatsink fan. You could run separate wires to the heatsink fan instead of using the 2 pins in the 6-pin connector. Or you could cut one of the traces that connects the LEDs, but of course that will void the warranty.
