      Hi all

      PLEASE help

I received my Duet to day and I have been able to flash my firmware to the the most recent stable from github, that all went well…but I am unable to access the web interface and also unable to access the card through the computer when I'm plugged in via USB. When I have an Ethernet cable connected to the board and PC I am also unable to see it on any network...

      Please help
      Thanks
      Rob

        Assuming it's a Duet 085, see https://duet3d.com/wiki/What_to_do_if_your_Duet_or_Duet_WiFi_won%27t_respond.

          Thanks for the quick reply

When I check device manager it sees it as a USB serial device (COM4).

The only thing I have done is flashed the firmware, so I dont know if there is anything else I need to do after that, I have been following lots of guides but seem t be going around in circles.

Does the COM4 port appear when you connect to the USB cable tongue Duet, and disappear when you disconnect it? If so, you should be able to connect to COM4 with Pronterface.

Which firmware version did you download, and how large was the binary? It it's a recent version, it should be nearly 200kbytes.

I downloaded the 1.17d, I do not have Pronteface on my computer do I need it? It was about 290k in size.

Is there a step by step guide that I can follow?

              Thanks for replying

Do I need to also download the Duet Web Control and flash that?

This is what I'm looking at:

On the Duet 085 the DuetWebControl files live on the SD card. See https://duet3d.com/wiki/SD_card_folder_structure.

Unless you have a terminal emulator installed on your computer, I suggest you download and install Pronterface.

You can use s3d but make sure you set it to hardware flow control in its communication parameters.

Okay I'm really struggling with this, no matter what I do I cannot get connected to the web interface. As far as I can tell the firmware was flashed properly with the most recent update 1.17e. I've tried pinging the board and I do not get a response from it, I'm getting confused with varying guides from all over the internet.

I'm doing an upgrade from RAMPS so I'm not that new to this…I constantly get timed out messages, would be great if there was a guide to walk through step by step, I'm just picking up bits of info from everywhere..at the moment I'm just getting frustrated and the excitement is slowly dwindling...please help

                        Thnak you

You need to get Pronterface or s3d or Arduino Serial Monitor communicating with the Duet. See my previous reply about using s3d. Once you have established communication, you can send M552 to check the network status.

                            Hi

I did that and gor the following response:
                            Connecting…
                            Printer is now online.

                            SENDING:M552
Network is enabled, configured IP address: 192.168.1.14, actual IP address: 192.168.1.14, HTTP port: 80

I entered that IP address into my browser and received this message:

                            This site can’t be reached

192.168.1.14 took too long to respond.
                            Try:
                            Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
                            Running Windows Network Diagnostics
                            ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

I seem to have communication with the board in Pronterface and in Arduino but I keep getting stuck at the above stage. I cannot connect to the interface but the board seems to be configured okay.

                            I appreciate your help.

                              Its Sorted 🙂

I really do appreciate your help and being in constant contact….thank you.

As it happens it turned out to be a bad Ethernet cable, I was using the wrong type of Ethernet cable, soon as I changed it, it loaded straight into the interface.

                              Thanks again, excited again 🙂
