That looks exactly like an M117 command that is called from the Gcode you are running. Maybe a macro that is called repeatedly?
I must admit that I don't know how to make an M117 give you the time left but everything else looks exactly like an M117.

my guess was slicer outputting it for marlin/repeteir style lcd, makes sense with the layer transitions.

Oh it makes sense but the documentation doesn't give any options for M117 other than straight text out. It doesn't even give you the option of a yes/no response from the operator which IMHO is a substantial issue/problem. So the question remains - how does it spit out times. Are there undocumented parameters that I am not aware of ? Maybe global parameters that I have not seen documented but that can be introduced ?

Looking at the time remaining amounts and comparing them to the layer times, they do seem to match so yes, it spit it out on every layer.

slicer embeds it in the g-code methinks

Did some more digging and found that S3D does indeed offer variables that could easily insert a time remaining amount in a message. Cura has no such abilities for some reason so it never occurred to me that the slicer might do this.

@jens55 You can search for M117 in the g-code-file to be sure.

It does! You're all right, it's a M117, and it's because of the slicer gcode. I completely forgot about this Cura option since I'm coming from an LCD.

Technically speaking, Cura has no such abilities. It's the plugin that's doing the work and not Cura 🙂

@jens55 Sorry bud, the post processor has been in there for a long time by default with a selection of default scripts to use. 😜
