Hi, I'm planning to by a Duet 2 Wifi from a local dealer but I would like to know if a 6 lead stepper can be used. I know I can use the outer 4 leads but I wonder if the middle wire can be connected to ground and config the board to use it as 6 lead?

Six lead motors can be driven as a 4 lead by ignoring the center taps on each coil. Insulate them, DO NOT ground the center taps.

The TMCxxxx chips on a Duet will not drive them as a six (there is no advantage to doing so).

@Danal Ok thanks, I just thought it had some advantage to drive them as 4 coils but I stick to the normal 2 coil solution then.
