Duet2wifi with 3.01-RC5 making strange buzz sounds.
-
Hi,
Last night i updated to 3.01-RC5.
But when my bedheater reaches temp, it starts making this strange buzz like sound comming from the controller board.
Here you can hear the sound, and see the LED pulse https://photos.app.goo.gl/C6y24JAzws6beUjT8
The sound is louder than the vid gives it credit for.It has never been a problem before. I've heard tine clicks from the board before when heating the hotend, but never the bed.
I have a MOSFET connected to the Duet between the bed and powersupply.Nothing hardware changed, only firmware.
What could cause this?

This should maybe have been put in Beta Firmware category, sorry about that.
-
What firmware version were you running before?
The buzzing sound is probably the PWM frequency. I suggest you reduce it to e.g. 10Hz using the Q parameter in the M950 command that creates the bed heater.

I went from release 2.05.1 -> 3.0 -> 3.01-RC5
tbh i did not test the bedheater when on 3.0, only the steppers. My bad. -

That explains it. In RRF 2.x the default PWM frequency for the bed heater is 10Hz. In RRF3 all heater outputs default to 250Hz.

The Q10 value made it go from an angry bee, to a slight clicking noise (Not sure if that is normal, but it is for my printer). thanks a bunch

I got the same problem whit rf 3.2.2 firmware, why happens that?? Is safe works whit that? the mosfet led is crazy and whit Q10 imñn gcode yes not sound hard just a little but not normal, if i use in bang bang mode don't have these problem just when use pid.

@erwaly Start a new thread and post your config.

@Phaedrux ok where is the right category to create?
-
@erwaly Duet hardware and wiring sounds like a good place.

@Phaedrux thanks
