I've also checked the services on the pi and both the duetcontrolserver and duetwebserver are running

I've reset the board as I didn't want to leave it heated but doing nothing for too long

I've only just seen this. It might have been useful to look at the log from duetcontrolserver on the Pi, and/or connect to the Duet via USB and see if you can get a M122 report that way.

            Just had this happen again.
The previous freeze was on layer 29 and this is on layer 31 of the same file.

I tried connecting to the board by USB and sending M122 but I never got a response back.
By running service duetcontrolserver I got this

May 09 19:25:32 raspberrypi DuetControlServer[3958]: [warn] Daemon: System macro daemon.g is requested but the stack is not empty. Discarding request.

Any thoughts? Seems to lock the whole system up.

@dc42 any idea about the above error?

Can you please share the G-code file and your config.g? I need to reproduce this problem in order to fix it.

Thanks, I'll try to reproduce this.

PS: There are several macros invoked from your TC scripts but they aren't part of the config bundle. Not sure if they are related to the freeze but I'll keep printing and see what happens.

                        Yea, I know there's a macro called that doesn't exist (prime.g).
I have successfully printed a variant on that gcode file with it making the calls to the macro and not had it crash.

I'll create a blank macro and see if I can get any further than layer 31.

BTW, I don’t know why but when running the debug console I can still access the webpage and ssh but crontab stopped running.

@jay_s_uk The fix will most likely resolve your problem, too. Please give it a try if you can.

@dc42 How long should this update take to apply?

it's been saying "Please wait while updates are being installed... " for over 15 minutes.

I'm now getting "Timeout while waiting for transfer ready pin" when I try to start DuetControlServer in debug mode.

I got that when I installed both the expansion and main board updates. It started working again once I fully powered off the machine

It should be very quick, like any other firmware update. I suggest you try updating the firmware using Bossa instead.

Okay, I'm back up and running after wedging a USB cable into my controller (guess I should have left some more room to work with.) I'll let it run and let you know how it goes.
