I am almost done with my CoreXY project and I am now planning my grocery list for a laser engraver.

My CoreXY is running on a Duet 0.85 board.

I am hoping to be able to cut or engrave colored acrylic, paper and thin wood.
I am planning for a 500mw 445-450nm Blue ray laser with under 5W of power.
I am curious IF I will require a driver or simply plug in a fan power.

The source that I am currently using is http://odicforce.com/Background-and-Projects/Page-/-Category.

Thank you for any DIY guide, suggestion or general information.

The Duet has been used to run laser engravers before. There is data least one thread about this in the Ormerod or Duet forum at reprap.org.
