Firmware Retraction

How do you implement it?
i.e. if you put the settings into config.g, what do you need to modify in the slicer config for it to work, presume you turn off retraction but where do you do the substitutions, or can you only do this with a slicer that understands firmware retract?

You configure your slicer to generate firmware retraction gcodes or mcodes instead of extruder commands. How you do that depends on your slicer.
